Collaborating with Sepura to speed up Bluetooth Data Solution

Infomatrix and Sepura have today announced the launch of a TETRA data solution that speeds up mobile data applications between standard commercial PDAs, or similar data devices, and Sepura TETRA radios.

Web-based PDA applications will benefit from typical cellular-like speeds when connected to the Sepura hand-held radios, using Sepura’s newly launched S-Link Bluetooth Adaptor and the Infomatrix [i]-SqZ Data Accelerator.

The [i]-SqZ provides protocol optimisation and content compression, resulting in throughput improvements of 10 to 20 times over native TETRA data rates. Rate-adaptive technology allows optimal performance over single- or multi-slot TETRA packet data channels, and will upgrade directly to TETRA2 (TEDS). Even on TETRA2, where video applications are expected to consume most of the available bandwidth, data transactions can be squeezed into the narrowest of gaps between bursts of video.

Additionally, when combined with the Infomatrix [i]-BrJ multi-bearer product, this will allow other wireless bearers in the PDA to automatically switch-in, as a fallback measure, when there is no TETRA coverage.
